Burghound 92 points.
Note: from a 1 ha parcel of 15+ year old vines This is quite aromatically similar to the Toussaints but with noticeably more floral elements. There is a bit better mid-palate density but with far more minerality to the detailed and beautifully focused finish. Once again, this could use better depth but the underlying material certainly appears to be present to facilitate that. *Burghound Outstanding!* (4/2023)

The domaine has a hectare in premier cru Aigrots, located in deep clay soils in the southern portion of the appellation. The 2021 vintage has a perfumed cherry fruit and notes of exotic spices, fresh flowers, and earth. The texture is firmly tannic, with surprising intensity. The organic-certified plot is planted three-quarters to Pinot Noir and one-quarter to Chardonnay. The grapes are partially destemmed before fermentation and ageing in cask, 30% new. (CC) (10/2022)
The Greeks called the holly “agria” (wild plant). The Romans latinised this into agrifolium, aquifolium. This plot may have been given this name because it was covered by thorny plants before it was planted with vines.
Located next to the famous Clos des Mouches, in the middle of the slope, Les Aigrots faces east.
The stony soil of this vineyard is rich in loams and clay. 75 ares (1.8 acre) produce full-bodied, generous reds, perfect with red meat, either grilled or with a sauce.
