Full-bodied with layers of firm, fine-grained tannins and deep blue fruit. Structured and focused with a lingering finish that continues to build. Well crafted. Better after 2025. Mazzei Philip is dedicated to the family’s most notable ancestor, Philip Mazzei (1730-1816), an illustrious Italian political thinker, philosopher and winemaker. A close friend of Thomas Jefferson, the two men reportedly exchanged winemaking tips and vineyard techniques. The great doctrine ‘All men are created equal’, incorporated into the Declaration of Independence by Jefferson, was paraphrased from the writings of Philip Mazzei. Made with a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon selected from all the Mazzei’s estates, Philip is the quintessence of Tuscany. It embodies the “New World” spirit of Tuscan winemaking, best represents the “revolutionary” character of Philip Mazzei, and expresses our desire to pursue happiness.
