An ancient grape variety, historically indigenous to the Tortonese hills, Timorasso, now brought back to life by taking the name Derthona. This is a full bodied wine with very soft tannins. Renowned winemaker Dr Riccardo Cottarella has been crafting the Morgant wines for over 20 years.

The Morgante 2019 Sicilia Nero d'Avola Riserva Don Antonio is a real beauty with bold lines and big intensity. The inky and extracted style does evoke a winemaking style that was popular during the first decade of the new millennium, but Don Antonio pulls off that style with pride and confidence. There is plenty of black cherry and baked plum with spice, tobacco and tarry smoke over a full-bodied style. The alcohol content is high at 15%. Production is 20,000 bottles. The Drumlin vineyard sits in the Gibbston sub-region. It is a tiny plot that produces exceptional fruit. Typically the wines that are derived give " delicate white pepper and fennel seed notes over a core of fresh pears and peach blossoms plus a touch of herbs. With a great backbone of acidity on the light to medium-bodied palate, this off-dry styled wine has plenty of earthy / stony notes complimenting the apple and pear characters, finishing long."
