wine notes:

The wine exudes an aromatic and vibrant bouquet, showcasing notes of red cherry, pomegranate, and delicate, freshly bloomed florals. Fresh red fruit notes and herbal undertones rest on a foundation of silky tannins, evolving into a refined and enduring finish. Pronounced mineral nuances and acidity harmonize to create an invigorating and confident balance.

winemakers comments:

Viper Vineyard Pinot Noir is made from grapes grown in the Grandstand Block of the Viper Vineyard in the Parkburn area on the western side of Lake Dunstan. The vineyard takes it name from the wildflower ”Vipers Bugloss” that covers the area. This vineyard sits on an undulating terrace above the valley floor. The soils are predominantly sandy loam over red clay cemented schist gravel. The terrace enjoys moderate temperatures and a long growing season. Ripening tends to be late into the season as the daytime temperatures are cooling. The cooler ripening tends to produce spicy wines with dark fruit flavours and density on the palate. The Viper is always made from the Grandstand block in the vineyard, and the wine always stands out as uniquely in the cellar as it does in the bottle.

WINE PILOT 95 points.

"The ‘Viper Vineyard’ (it does feel a bit like someone has been watching too much Kung Fu Panda with these names) provides grapes from the Grandstand Block within it, in the Parkburn Valley sub-region on the western shores of Lake Dunstan with sandy loam over red clay. Red crimson colour, the aromas weave through spices, florals, rose petals, redcurrants and cherries. Good focus, fine balance, and enticingly silky tannins. A long and lingering finish, on which we see some attractive cherry notes emerge. A really appealing Pinot that has four to ten years of pleasure ahead of it." KG.
