A blend of 80% Shiraz and 20% Pinot Noir. Small production. Big heart. 95 points - Mike Bennie The Wine Front "Cor blimey, this is a wine! Such beautiful texture, vibrancy, shimmering cherry juice and cranberry tang, layers of spice, herb, a bristling line of acidity and such fine and shape-giving tannins. It’s one of those wines that feels beautiful let alone tastes delicious. Lighter weight style with all the structure. Super stuff here." Halliday Wine Companion, 95 points. The tension between tannin, acidity, savoury nuances and fruit is high. It feels as though all the components here are sitting straight and alert. Earth, rust, iodine, black cherry and plum notes all make contributions, as does malty oak. It's not dense, but it feels robust; it's a wine of presence. It's easy to see this wine maturing fantastically. Campbell Mattinson Published 01 August 2020 A master blender and visionary winemaker, Maurice O'Shea often blended Shiraz with Pinot Noir and other varieties. In pride of place was a string of 1940s releases named in honour of his great friend and supporter Henri Renault. The Mount Henry was created with a focus on elegance and subtlety rather than sheer power. The 2018 vintage is 80% Shiraz from the 1946 plantings on Rosehill, and 20% Mothervine Pinot Noir from the Estate, planted in 1921.
