To anyone that has met Kym Teusner and Mick Page, it would come as no surprise to discover that Teusner Wines was conceived over a few beers at the local pub. Scratching together a bit of cash, the fruit from an old Barossa vineyard found a new home and Teusner Wines came to life. Teusner’s philosophy comes down to two simple words. Righteous Pleasure. Let the righteous flavours found in the old Barossa vineyards take center stage in the wines and bring pleasure to those that put their hand in their pocket to buy them. It’s a simple approach, but one that has gained Teusner an army of fans and had the commentators and critics singing the praises of his wines as modern day benchmarks for the Barossa Valley.
The 2020 Riebke upholds the tradition…rich, abundant flavour and serious drinkability whilst also being easy on the pocket. The wine is jam packed with Barossa Shiraz flavours….plums, black fruits and warm spices. Teusner have taken it easy on the oak to allow the fruit to take centre stage…as you would when it’s this good. This is a plush, vibrant wine of immense generosity and incredible value.
"Shiraz sourced from the Riebke vineyards in the famous northern Barossa growing area of Ebenezer. The Riebke always represents solid value and this release is no different, with oodles of deep blackberry, black cherry and dark plum fruits laden with baking spices, black licorice, dark chocolate and earth. There is a fine, sandy tannin frame, super-ripe unctuous black fruits and plenty more to like. 92 points."
